Greenwynd opened on the Fernhill terraces in 2012 and has spent fourteen seasons learning what guests actually want from Queenstown: a quiet room with the lake in the window, a proper dinner after a long day on the mountain, and somewhere unhurried to spend the evening.
The house holds 116 rooms and suites across five floors, almost all of them facing north-west over Lake Wakatipu towards Cecil and Walter Peak. Downstairs there is Silverbeech, our Central Otago restaurant; The Copper Lantern, the first-floor bar; Tussock Spa; and four event spaces that take everything from a twelve-person board meeting to a 180-guest wedding.
Beyond the lounge doors on the ground floor sits the Greenwynd gaming lounge — a compact, adults-only room with table games, electronic gaming and a small high-limit salon. It is one part of the resort rather than the reason for it, and it is open only to guests and visitors aged 20 and over. As a casino hotel we take that responsibility seriously: our staff are trained under the Gambling Act 2003 and our host responsibility policy applies everywhere on the property.

Silverbeech Restaurant
Our ground-floor dining room, named for the beech forest above Fernhill. Central Otago lamb and venison, Lake Ohau salmon, and a cellar built almost entirely from Gibbston Valley and Bannockburn.
The Gaming Lounge
An adults-only room off the main lobby: blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker tables, electronic gaming and a small high-limit salon. Entry is 20+ with valid photo ID.

Tussock Spa & Wellness

What the house offers
Silverbeech — dining from Central Otago
Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 10:30, dinner from 17:30 to 22:00, seven days. The kitchen works with growers in the Cromwell basin and the Gibbston Valley, and the menu changes four times a year with the season rather than the calendar.
The Copper Lantern on the first floor pours until late — a short cocktail list, forty Central Otago pinot noirs by the glass, and a light supper menu for guests coming off the last gondola.
Tussock Spa & Wellness
Below the lobby, the spa runs four treatment rooms and a couples' suite. The signature ninety-minute Wakatipu ritual uses warmed river stones and mānuka oil; a shorter alpine recovery massage is popular with guests coming down from Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.
The 17-metre indoor pool, steam room and gym are open to house guests from 6:00 to 22:00 at no charge. Spa treatments should be booked at least a day ahead in winter.

The gaming lounge — adults only, 20+
The lounge sits off the main lobby behind its own doors, so nothing carries into the rest of the hotel. Inside, the casino games run to eight live tables — blackjack, roulette, baccarat and a three-table poker corner — alongside a bank of electronic gaming machines and a six-seat high-limit salon.
Entry is restricted to guests aged 20 and over, and photo ID is checked at the door. Smart-casual dress applies after 18:00. Our hosts are trained to the standard required by the Gambling Act 2003 and can arrange a self-exclusion at any time, in confidence.
Meetings, conferences & weddings
The Remarkables Room takes 180 for a wedding or 120 theatre-style; the Gibbston Room seats 60; the Wakatipu Terrace holds 90 standing with the lake in front of it; and the boardroom takes 12 around one table. All four have natural light, which is rarer in Queenstown function space than it should be.
Our events team handles catering, AV, accommodation blocks and airport transfers as one line of contact.

The location
Queenstown, from the Fernhill terraces
Greenwynd stands on Fernhill Road, two kilometres west of the Queenstown CBD, with Lake Wakatipu below and Ben Lomond behind. The town centre is a twelve-minute walk along the lakefront path or four minutes by our shuttle.
Coronet Peak is 25 minutes by road, The Remarkables ski area 40, and Queenstown Airport 15. In summer the concierge books jet boats on the Shotover, the Skyline gondola up Bob's Peak, and half-day cruises on the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak. In autumn the Gibbston Valley cellar doors are twenty minutes east through the Kawarau Gorge.
Milford Sound is a long but worthwhile day — we can arrange a coach-and-flight combination that leaves at 7:00 and has you back for dinner. Arrowtown, Glenorchy and the Cardrona Valley are all comfortable half-days.
Skiing & alpine
Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona within an hour. Ski storage, drying room and a 6:30 breakfast in season.
On the water & above it
Jet boating on the Shotover, kayaking off Sunshine Bay, scenic cruises, bungee at the Kawarau Bridge and the Skyline gondola.
Gibbston & Bannockburn
Central Otago pinot noir twenty minutes east through the Kawarau Gorge — and the willows turning gold along the water each April. The concierge arranges driver-guided cellar-door days for two to eight guests.
Town & Arrowtown
Twelve minutes on foot to the Queenstown waterfront; twenty by road to the gold-rush cottages and autumn avenues of Arrowtown.

Our gaming lounge is restricted to guests aged 20 and over, our hosts are trained to recognise when someone is no longer enjoying themselves, and a voluntary self-exclusion can be arranged at any time, in confidence and without fuss.
We display our host responsibility policy at the entrance to the lounge, as required by the Gambling Act 2003, and we never extend credit for gaming.
